The Authentic Taste of Hainanese

Background
This project is to let people know that Hainanese culture in Malaysia is slowly fading away, in aspects such as dialect, cuisine, as well as population, as the population of this culture is the smallest among the Malaysian Chinese community. So, the main focus of this project is about a Hainanese dessert that is hardly seen in Malaysia.
Synopsis/Story
A video documentary centred on a 95 year-old Hainanese lady preparing an authentic Hainanese dessert not often seen in Malaysia, namely the ‘Ta Kak Lau’ (triangle shape kuih). This dessert represents happiness and sweetness in life, and is traditionally
eaten during the Winter Solstice Festival.
